The Kiehl’s Facial
Kiehl’s
Puffy, dull, dry and congested skin? It’s time you book in for a Kiehl’s facial. Everyone's favourite cult skincare brand has treatment rooms tucked away in a select few of their London stores, offering you the perfect escape to dive in for a facial when your skin needs it most.
Kiehl’s has developed a concise facial menu that ranges from the ‘Express Facial’ (a speedy skin pick-me-up and the perfect 20 minute lunch break filler), to the ‘Signature Facial’ (a 45 minute treatment to help boost and protect your skin’s barrier). At PIBE our skin was craving a little more.. so we tested out one of the brand's 60 minute offerings, the ‘Illuminate Facial’. The perfect after work selfcare treat to target hyper-pigmentation and boost radiance. All facials on the menu are expertly tailored to your skin type and concerns, so here are the steps we used to get our skin glowing again.
After a skin inspection to see what our face was lacking and craving, we started with a powerful facial steam to open pores and warm up our skin to create a supple base. This was followed by a thorough double cleanse, firstly using the Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil to melt away makeup, dirt and oil. Next the Ultra Facial Cleanser was gently foamed and massaged in to deeply clean the skin and remove any remaining debris. This was washed away with a heated towel to leave our face feeling cleansed and fresh.
Next up two face masks were applied, each targeting different areas of the face depending on your skin type. The Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Mask was painted onto our T-Zone to extract stubborn blackheads and draw out any excess oil. While this dried and got to work, the Ultra Facial Overnight Rehydrating Mask with 10.5% Squalane was added to our cheeks and neck area to help stabilize our skin’s moisture barrier and rehydrate these dry areas.
Once the masks were removed, we drifted into a deep relaxed state whilst our therapist massaged our skin to help with lymphatic drainage. Before a LED Mask was placed over our face and left for 10 minutes to allow the red light to reduce inflammation and brighten. The final steps were all about hydration, hydration, hydration. The Retinol Skin-Renewing Daily Micro-Dose Serum was applied first. This daily micro-dose retinol helps to even out skin tone and also smooth yet firm up the texture. This was locked in with the Ultra Facial Meltdown Recovery Cream (our new moisturiser obsession) to drench sensitive and dry skin with hydration for up to 96hours. The facial ended with light taps of the famous Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, which is fool proof and de-puffs and brightens your under eyes. So if your face is feeling lifeless, book yourself in for a Kiehl’s facial and your skin will thank you with a glowy, bright and hydrated complexion in return.
